Autistic/Emotional Support Internal Coach
SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Autistic/Emotional Support Internal Coach to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for for building the capacity of special education personnel to implement evidence-based and research-based practices in educational programs for students placed in district autistic and emotional support classrooms through the provision of direct assistance and support to professional and paraprofessional staff, as well as indirect support, including consultation and the provision of relevant training.ResponsibilitiesObserve, provide feedback, and model procedures and applications of verbal behavior, functional behavioral assessment, and other research-based and evidence-based interventions for students within the autism and emotional support programs.Reinforce staff actions and behaviors to align with effective instructional practices.Collaborate with professional staff in the design, implementation, and monitoring of research based and evidence-based individualized educational programs for students with autism and emotional disturbance.Maintain resources and reference materials in a shared digital space to support applied behavior analysis and verbal behavior concepts and approaches.Provide formal training opportunities to staff in coordination with the PaTTAN consultant, as appropriate.Communicate with PaTTAN consultants on a regular basis about progress in classrooms through:Overlapping time in the classroom with the consultants/BCBA.Providing written summaries/consultation notes in observational form with quantitative data, including coach recommendations.Keep running records of consultation times in the binder logs/consult notes to document independent internal coach site visits.Assist staff with student data collection as appropriate.Assist classroom teams with assessments for students and material creation for students within the classrooms.Guide, support, and facilitate recommendations in the PaTTAN consultant's summary notes provided at the end of each site review.Establish a clear distinction between one's duties as an internal coach and one's duties as a teacher when making recommendations.Seek and attend training sessions that will further develop skills related to implementation of effective instructional practices for individuals with autism and emotional disturbance.All other duties as assigned.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Special Education with an accompanying Pennsylvania teaching certification required for Highly Qualified Status in Special Education K-12Minimum 3 years' experience working in an Autistic Support and/or Emotional Support classroom.Experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis and the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Protocol preferred.
