Police Officer

The High School Police Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and orderly campus environment. This position goes beyond enforcement and focuses on building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while supporting school policies, procedures, and daily operations. The officer serves as both a safety professional and a trusted presence on campus.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain a safe and secure school environment during the instructional day and school-sponsored eventsBuild positive, respectful relationships with students through consistent presence and appropriate engagementSupport and enforce school policies and procedures in alignment with district guidelines and state lawRespond promptly to safety concerns, incidents, and emergencies using appropriate de-escalation strategiesCollaborate with school administrators, counselors, and staff to support student well-being and campus safetyMonitor campus activity, including arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and transitions between classesConduct routine patrols of school buildings and groundsAssist with incident documentation, reporting, and follow-up as requiredServe as a role model for professionalism, respect, and responsible decision-makingParticipate in safety planning, drills, and prevention initiativesSupport restorative and educational approaches to student behavior when appropriateCurrent certification and eligibility to serve as a police officer in the stateCommitment to a student-centered, community-focused approach to policingAbility to build trust and maintain positive relationships with adolescents
