Machine Shop Supervisor

Machine Shop Supervisor ELECTRIC MACHINERY COMPANY, a division of WEG Electric Corp. Minneapolis, MinnesotaThe Machine Shop Supervisor assumes responsibility for managing the Machining Department. Plans, coordinates, and communicates machining processes to ensure production of goods in accordance with delivery, cost, safety and quality. Provides leadership, develops employees, develops teams, and stimulates ownership by all.Major Areas of Accountability:Provides daily leadership, management, guidance and coaching to staff; develops and trains staff and teams to ensure resources are available to produce products and parts required, on time, at low cost, and with high quality.Ensures all products, and parts are produced efficiently, safely and with high quality to meet delivery standards.Develops, reviews, and disseminates policies, procedures, methods and work processes pertaining to operations performed in each manufacturing department. Defines and implements solutions to continuously improve the business processes.Displays initiative and ingenuity in solving machining problems. Participates in suggesting changes in equipment, design, and procedures or methods which will reduce machining costs, lead time or improve quality.Works closely and harmoniously with other department's supervisors and employees.Promotes and enhances safety of assigned personnel by providing necessary safety equipment, advising employees of safe operating methods, uniformly complying with safety regulations, and by taking prompt and effective corrective action through accident investigation.Responsible for the accomplishment of short and long term goals and objectives.Ensures department operations are conducted according to the budget guidelines.Understands and works within the guidelines of the current labor agreement.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Minimum of (5) years Machining / machining support and supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.High School Diploma or equivalent required, and 2 years technical college degree preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes.Proficient with programming, editing, machine setup and troubleshooting of CNC mills and lathes.Experience with Fanuc controls.Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience using inspection equipment, calipers, bore gages, height gages.Proficiency in MS Office Suite, internet and email, and familiarity with SAP software preferred.Proven ability to communicate and interact effectively across all levels of the organization, and with external customers.Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and work with all levels of production personnel.Able to read text and blueprints as well as drafting symbols and geometric tolerance symbols.Must be able to handle, coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously on a consistent basis.Demonstrated problem solving skills.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, group participation and management skills.Self-starting, results-oriented, flexible, and team player.Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and business segment goals.Physical Requirements:Ability to travel freely within manufacturing shop and office facilities.Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted.Able to climb scaffolding, ladders or several flights of stairs.Salary: $75,000 - 85,000; Will compensate with experience.
