Automation Controls Engineer

The Automation Controls Engineers will be based out of Sparta and will have travel requirements of roughly 30% with a maximum of 50% during critical times.As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for leading, supporting, implementing, and managing automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. The candidate must be able to develop the concept, aid in the mechanical-electrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide ongoing support for the robot cell. Robust programming to increase equipment uptime without continuous intervention.Document and use existing control standards to develop requirements for automated cellsWillingness to travel in North America – time traveling can be up to 50%Qualifications:Proficient in (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk HMI, Baluff I/O link, programming).Fanuc Programming or basic understanding with RoboticsUnderstand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry (OSHA 1910), machine guarding, robot safety (ANSI/RIA 15.06), automated vehicles, conveyor safetySupporting member of Risk Assessments on all automated equipmentAuto CAD ExperienceAbility to read electrical drawingsCoordinate and manage controls systemsCommunication with external manufacturing system /MESAtlas Copco Tools Talk programming and interface with torque toolsExperience with controls and programming servo driven equipmentWillingness to travel in North America – time traveling can be up to 50%.Basic experience with Vision systems to guide robot – offsetsDevelop & Completion of Automation risk assessmentsKnowledgeable in MS-OfficeBonus: Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV/AMR) experienceMentor and Train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.Communicate across cross functional groupsSupport Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projectsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering3 plus years' experience in a similar role#LI-KB1
