The incumbent will be responsible for teaching, research, administration, and service activities as they relate to the Decatur Family Medicine Residency program and to the FQHC. This position will practice both outpatient and inpatient medicine.Examples of DutiesI. Teaching 35% Supervise resident physicians and medical students in patient care activities at theFamily Medicine site and other outpatient settings. Conduct and supervise teaching rounds on hospitalized patients. Participates in education conferences, seminars, and lectures for resident physicians andmedical students. Supervises, observes, and evaluates resident physicians and other advanced students inthe Family Medicine Program. Responsible for teaching and services activities as they relate to the Decatur FamilyMedicine Residency program to enhance the quality of the residency program.II. Service (Patient Care) 35% Provide direct patient care to own patient panel. Participate in the Family Medicine Faculty Inpatient call. Serve on school-wide, departmental and community committees and requested. Serve on residency program, community, and hospital committees, as assigned. Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities. Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified ashaving no primary care physician. Participants in internal or external professional organizations and/or committees asdelegated by the Residency Program Director, Medical Director, and FQHC.III. Administration 25% Serves as an Assistant Program Director for the Decatur Family Medicine ResidencyProgram by directing and administering clinical and educational activities related to theprogram as delegated by the Residency Program and Medical Director. Serve as the Director of Osteopathic Education. Responsible for osteopathic recognitionstatus through ACGME and serves as point of contact for the American OsteopathicAssociation, Division of Postdoctoral Training and ATSU/KCOM OsteopathicPostdoctoral Training Institution (National Center for Osteopathic Principles and PracticeEducation). Attend quarterly Departmental DO meetings. Coordinate, attend, and assist as needed in osteopathic resident curricular activitiesincluding but not limited to OMT clinics, DO journal clubs, and educational workshops. Track, monitor and advise on Decatur DO scholarly activities. Ensure resident documentation of osteopathic skills are maintained. Conduct biannual meetings with each osteopathic recognition (OR) track resident, andannual meetings with OR faculty as required by the ACGME.IV. Research 5% Devise and carry out research projects of their own design with assistance from otherfaculty members. Assist Residents and medical students in the development of research projects and willhelp supervise their activities.Qualifications Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. Must possess a DO degree. Must have graduated from an accredited residency training program at time of hire. Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine. Must be licensed in the state of Illinois at time of hire.
