Project Cost AccountantCharleston, SCPosition SummaryThe Project Cost Accountant works with project managers to ensure accurate invoicing, compliance with contract terms, and timely financial performance tracking. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process client invoices, including progress billing, time-and-materials, and lump sum contractsPartner with project managers to validate billable costs, contract terms, and billing schedulesTrack project costs (labor, materials, subcontractors) to ensure alignment with billing and revenue recognitionManage WIP schedules and support revenue recognition in accordance with contract termsResolve billing discrepancies and respond to client inquiries in a timely mannerPrepare monthly cost reports, billing forecasts, and variance analysesEnsure compliance with contracts, company policies, and accounting standardsQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in engineering, construction, or related industriesStrong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognitionProficiency in accounting software and Excel (advanced skills preferred)Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple projectsExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsEducation and Experience RequirementsAssociate's degree required or relevant work experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.Experience with a comprehensive accounting system (Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint experience is a plus)Physical and Environmental RequirementsThis position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.Expected Hours of WorkThe ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
