Company DescriptionBink is a fast-growing online gaming company operating a real-money-scale casino, sportsbook, and poker platform across 32 states.Behind the polished, generous player experience is a genuinely demanding engineering problem: a TypeScript monolith built with NestJS and Next.js that handles a money ledger with zero tolerance for rounding errors, provably fair game outcomes verifiable by cryptographic seed using HMAC-SHA256, real-time game state and live odds over WebSockets, and a dual-currency sweepstakes economy. All of this sits behind fail-closed, state-level geo-compliance, KYC/AML scaffolding, and device-level fraud intelligence.Because we are a sweepstakes operator handling redeemable prizes, compliance, correctness, and reliability are non-negotiable. A bug in the wrong place is a money bug or a regulatory one. We ship to production continuously on a small, high-leverage team, which is only possible because we build AI-augmented: engineers work alongside coding agents like Claude Code to plan, implement, review, and verify, then own the result. The environment is deliberately relaxed and low-ego: flexible, minimal bureaucracy, and no busywork. But the work is real and the pace is fast. We are driving toward go-to-market in the next 6–7 weeks. That timeline is what makes this exciting rather than stressful. What you build ships in weeks, not quarters, and you will see it go live.We value curiosity, a data-driven approach to product, and the discipline to never trust output, human or AI, without verifying it.Role DescriptionThe Software Engineering Intern is a full-time, on-site role in College Station, TX. You will work with our engineers to design, build, test, and maintain the back-end services powering casino, sportsbook, and poker features in a real production codebase on a 6–7 week launch runway, not a sandbox.Day to day, you might:Build and extend NestJS services and APIs backed by PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, and Redis.Write clean, well-tested TypeScript and get your code reviewed by peers.Work on correctness-critical paths, including the event-sourced money ledger, provably fair game engines, and wager/settlement flows, where immutability, idempotency, and exact arithmetic matter.Integrate third-party APIs, including payments, sports/odds feeds, OAuth sign-in, and KYC/IDV providers.Work on the real-time layer using Socket.IO.Troubleshoot defects, improve system performance, and support CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Docker-based deploys, and monitoring.Keep an eye on cost, reliability, and production safety.Use Claude Code daily to move fast: scoping work, generating and refactoring code, writing tests, and auditing changes.Critically review AI-generated output and verify it against tests, the schema, and the compliance/money rules before it ships. You will get hands-on experience with live production systems, real engineering best practices, including testing, code review, observability, and safe deploys, and modern AI-assisted development. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers in a relaxed but fast-moving environment where your work has a direct line to launch.QualificationsFoundational Computer Science knowledge, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.Solid programming and OOP skills in at least one modern language, such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C#, or Python.Willingness to work primarily in TypeScript/Node.js.Coursework or experience in software development practices, including version control with Git, debugging, and automated testing.Interest or experience in back-end web development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.Ability to work effectively with AI coding tools, specifically Claude Code: directing it, reviewing its output critically, and verifying correctness rather than accepting it blindly.Comfort with the broader AI-assisted workflow, which is core to how we ship.Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.Able to work on-site in College Station, TX and collaborate across a cross-functional team.Comfortable in a relaxed, self-directed environment with an aggressive launch timeline.Able to take ownership and move quickly without heavy hand-holding.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially around money and compliance correctness.Eagerness to learn new tools quickly.PlusExperience with PostgreSQL or other relational/NoSQL databases.Experience with Redis.Experience with Docker.Experience with CI/CD, especially GitHub Actions.Experience with cloud or VPS deployment.Experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets.Experience with monorepo tooling, including Turborepo or pnpm.
