Residential Services Route Planner / Dispatcher

Route Planner - Residential Services Industry (ie...pest control, lawn care, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc)Position Summary The Service / Route Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining efficient service schedules and route plans for field technicians. This role plays a critical part in driving revenue, maximizing technician productivity, and ensuring timely, high-quality service for customers. The Planner analyzes operational data, forecasts service demand, and optimizes routes to ensure efficient resource utilization while meeting daily production and service goals. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain daily and weekly appointment schedules for technicians and outside salespeople based on location, service type, priority, technician skill sets, and customer preferences (when possible). Optimize routes to minimize travel time, fuel costs, and technician downtime while maximizing daily stop counts and revenue production. Schedule appointments in advance to maintain consistent workflow and meet monthly service completion targets. Coordinate with service/branch managers and technicians to accommodate emergency calls, cancellations, and rescheduled appointments. Communicate with customers to confirm appointments, notify of schedule changes, and respond to scheduling inquiries using company-approved systems. Monitor technician availability, capacity, and workload to ensure balanced assignments and avoid overbooking or underutilization. Ensure technicians are assigned to appropriate service types based on licensing, training, and experience. Utilize routing and scheduling software, GPS tools, and internal databases to plan, adjust, and track service schedules. Analyze routing, service, and productivity data to identify trends and improve scheduling accuracy and operational efficiency. Act as a liaison between office staff and field technicians to ensure clear communication and smooth daily operations. Maintain daily communication with management regarding technician attendance, route changes, delays, and capacity issues. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in logistics, operations, or business is a plus. Previous experience in scheduling, dispatching, logistics, or route planning preferred; pest control or similar residential services industry experience is a plus. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules simultaneously. Proficiency with scheduling software (preferably Field Routes), CRM systems, and GPS routing tools. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make operational decisions. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational needs. Working Conditions Office-based role (5-days a week) with frequent communication with field technicians and occasional communication with customers.
