Job Title: Mill OperatorDepartment: Production Location: Turlock, CA Full/Part-Time: Full-timeRegular/Temporary: Regular FLSA Status: Non-exempt (hourly)Shift: DaySalary Range: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour.SUMMARYReporting to the Production Supervisor, the Mill Operator is required to perform semi-skilled labor with regard to all aspects of mill maintenance and operations ensuring optimization of production to manufacture feed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Utilize computer programmed batching system to receive and manufacture feedMaintain required documentation associated with all departmentsAfter appropriate training, operate all process equipment including powered industrial vehicles Assist in start-up and shut down of operations Assist in the troubleshooting of processes and equipment operation and provide in-put for corrective actionsPerform general housekeeping of production area to meet OSHA standards, as well as a clean and safe working environmentClimb ladders up to 100 feet to perform maintenance and inventory dutiesPerform quality duties including but not limited to sampling inbound and outbound loads as well as production paperworkADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESPerform related duties and/or special projects as assignedQUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:Methods and techniques for safe work practicesForklift operation and heavy machinery experience desiredBasic recordkeeping practicesAbility to:Perform basic computer operations using Windows, Word, ExcelPerform daily safety inspections and identify safety hazardsWork flexibly and varying work schedules including, overtime as neededPerform basic mathematical problems (add, subtract, multiply, divide)Work independently with minimal supervisionBuild and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and customersFollow written and verbal instructions; problem solveCommunicate effectively in English (verbal/written)Contribute to a positive work environmentDemonstrate good organization skills Perform troubleshooting on mill machineryComplete production paperwork and quality documentsMinimum Job Requirements, Experience and Training Guidelines:High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience One (1) to two (2) years’ work experience in a warehouse/industrial/production environmentAbility to lift/carry up to 55 pounds Previous feed/agricultural experience desiredBasic computer skillsWork varying shifts including weekends, holidays and overtimeSPECIAL DEMANDSPhysical requirements            Frequent standing for long period of timeFrequent bending, squatting and kneelingFrequent lifting and carrying of up to 55 poundsFrequent grasping, holding and reachingConstant use of overall visionFrequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditionsFrequent exposure to loud noiseWORKING CONDITIONSWork may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperatures and a noisy environment. May be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust, and dusty, muddy and slick environment.
