Senior Tax Manager

Role OverviewSonoma Wealth Advisors is a fully integrated wealth management firm where tax, financial planning, investment management, and business advisory work together.We're hiring a Senior Tax Manager to lead the tax function across a distributed team. This role is central to how work gets done and how clients are served. You'll guide complex tax work, support and develop the team, and partner closely with advisors so tax is part of a coordinated strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the tax functionOversee day-to-day tax operations across locations with accountability for quality and deliveryManage workflow so returns are completed accurately and on timePartner with leadership on hiring, performance, and team developmentDevelop the teamMentor tax professionals and administrative staffSupport growth while maintaining strong standards and accountabilityOwn technical qualityReview complex individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returnsPrepare returns for high-net-worth individuals and business clients as neededEnsure compliance with federal and state regulations and stay current on tax law changesAdvise clients and collaborateWork directly with clients on tax strategy, planning, and complianceProvide guidance on multi-state filings, entity structuring, and business transitionsPartner with financial advisors and planners to deliver coordinated recommendationsImprove operationsOversee scheduling, workflow systems, and processesIdentify ways to improve efficiency and contribute to broader planning initiativesQualificationsRequiredActive CPA or EA licenseBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 5 years of progressive tax experience, including supervisory responsibilityExperience in tax preparation and review for individuals and businessesPreferredMaster's degree in taxation or related fieldExperience managing teams across multiple locationsFamiliarity with tax software such as Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSeries, or similarComfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environmentCompensation and BenefitsWe invest in our people.
