Physical Therapy Scribe-Technician
This position involves scribing for the physical therapist and performing other duties that ensure that patient care runs smoothly throughout the clinic. Scribing involves entering patient and treatment information into the electronic medical record (EMR) and taking other dictation from the therapist. Technician duties include contacting insurances to gain approval for additional physical therapy visits, taking the patients back to the treatment rooms, taking vitals, preparing treatment rooms for the next patient, ordering supplies, organization of clinic supplies, and doing laundry. Multi-tasking, juggling multiple responsibilities, and attention to detail are essential in this position.
Qualifications for this position include: a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year post-secondary education (i.e. college or medically related trade school). Applicants should be efficient word processors. This position would approximately involve 20 hours per week.
This position is ideal for pre-professional students seeking clinical exposure in health-related professions, especially those seeking to enter physical therapy school or physical therapy assistant school. Previous holders of this position have gone on to become physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, physicians assistants, and medical doctors.
