The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on developer with a strong technical foundation in AWS cloud native architecture, SOLR/Zookeeper Search, DevSecOps automated secure pipelines, Web based Search architecture, and infrastructure integration. This exceptional position will be a key member of the USPTO internal and external hosted website agile development teams specifically responsible for the search infrastructure that supports the product teams as they seek to migrate, modernize, automate, and innovate their search applications. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to architect, design, develop, and engineer the innovation, automation, and modernization of complex projects that drive business value and strategic insights. This position is remote and can be worked from any location in the continental U.S. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain the internal and external website search infrastructure, including SOLR/Zookeeper servers, security, indexing, analytics. Collaborate with cross‑functional Agile Drupal development teams for search requirements and reporting integration. Manage search indexing and analytics/reporting needs. Develop, build, and deploy search automation, CI/CD pipelines, scripts, and infrastructure from the ground up using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation. Leverage automation and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures to modernize the SOLR/Zookeeper environment. Develop end‑to‑end plans for migration of cloud‑based SOLR/ZooKeeper search capability to an AWS‑managed search service. Architect, develop, build and deploy pilots, prototypes, and proof‑of‑concept solutions to validate potential search modernizations and updates in an AWS cloud native environment. Implement transparency, traceability, and appropriate security handling in line with best practices and applicable compliance standards, including Authorization to Operate certifications. Design scalable, secure, and cost‑effective infrastructure for search implementation, deployment, and maintenance. Implement and document reusable code libraries, SOPs, and best practices for modernization, automation, and innovation development and deployment. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Cloud, Containerization, DevSecOps, SOLR/Zookeeper Search. Proven track record of delivering impactful web‑based search deployments including SOLR/Zookeeper and open‑source search managed service solutions in an AWS cloud native environment. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance based on USPTO regulations. Candidates must have lived in the United States for the last 2 consecutive years. Track record of delivering impactful DevSecOps automated pipeline solutions in cloud native environments. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Strong programming skills in Java, React (HTML/CSS/Javascript/Typescript), Terraform, and Gitlab pipelines. Cloud Platforms: AWS (S3, SageMaker, Redshift), Azure, and GCP. Version Control & Collaboration tools: AWS, Gitlab, Docker. Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes. Terraform and Gitlab Pipelines. Suitable combination of education, training, or experience may be substituted for education. Desirable Experience with Agile and the Rally Agile management tool. Technology Stack & Skills Requirements. Programming languages: Java, Python, HTML, Linux Shell (e.g., Bash), JavaScript, PERL, PHP (Drupal), SQL. Cloud Native Platforms: AWS AMI’s. Agile Software development methodology: Rally. Desired Qualifications Experience with Drupal. Target salary range: $160,001 – $200,000.
