Accounts Payable Clerk
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Controller
The Accounts Payable clerk is responsible for the payment of goods and services purchased by the organization. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services.
Essential Functions

Reviews all invoices for appropriate approval documentation prior to payment
Compares purchase orders, prices, terms of payment, and other charges
Posts invoices and credits in the system, ensuring they are coded correctly
Ensures bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner
Processes due invoices for payments
Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks
Distributes payments as required
Prepares RGA PO’s and Credit issuing customer accounts
Prepares Reconciliations
Acts as liaison between corporate and branch account departments
Handles external and internal inquiries by phone and email
Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets, and corporate accounts payable files
Assists corporate financial officers and branch personnel as necessary
Sets up and maintains vendor accounts
Assists in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process
Assists in monthly closing
Prepares analysis of accounts, as required

Qualifications:
General accounting experience.
Experience with accounting software and online platforms.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of related experience.
