Description: Looking for an entry level engineer to manage street lighting construction material standards, design photometric layouts and provide engineering expertise in outdoor lighting. This role will be trained and lead by an expert engineer.
Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering - required.
Responsibilities of Associate Engineer – Streetlighting
Develop and Maintain Material Standards
Establish and enforce construction material standards for streetlighting equipment to ensure utility-grade quality and long service life.
Approve alternate suppliers and products to maintain competitive pricing and supply chain resilience.
Perform Photometric Design In-House
Create photometric layouts and lighting designs internally, reducing reliance on external consultants and lowering design costs by over 60%.
Ensure compliance with industry standards while optimizing lighting performance for safety, efficiency, and aesthetics.
Control Costs and Support Rate Base Management
Monitor and stabilize streetlight material pricing to reduce outage and new business spending.
Lead competitive bidding processes for products with shorter life cycles to mitigate cost volatility.
Provide accurate CIAC (Contribution in Aid of Construction) cost estimates and track variances against actuals.
Collaborate with Vendors and Supply Chain
Partner with client Supply Chain and vendors to resolve material defects that delay construction projects.
Implement corrective actions with suppliers to improve quality and reduce lead times.
Strengthening vendor relationships to ensure reliable delivery of materials and services.
Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Introducing new products, services, and construction standards to enhance client's streetlighting portfolio.
Support Operations with technical expertise and contribute to long-term asset management strategies.
Build in-house expertise in lighting technology, with a development horizon of up to three years to achieve full independence in material and photometric engineering.
