By leveraging industry experience, strong operational infrastructure, and a national reach, the company serves as a trusted partner for collateral recovery across the United States.Job SummaryThe Controller will lead the accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions for the business. This role requires a hands-on finance leader with prior Controller experience who can operate effectively in a transaction-intensive environment while strengthening systems, controls, and financial discipline.This is a senior, on-site leadership role reporting directly to the President, with a dotted-line relationship to the fractional CFO. The Controller’s primary focus will be on the core operating business, with responsibility for supporting accounting and reporting across affiliated operating entities and a holding company, as appropriate.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & CloseOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statementsPrepare and review income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statementsEnsure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supportedManage accruals, reserves, revenue recognition, and period-end estimatesMaintain consistent accounting treatment across operating units and entitiesRevenue Recognition & Job CostingOversee revenue recognition policies and billing practicesEnsure proper tracking and allocation of customer billings, fees, and third-party costsPartner with operations to improve job-level profitability visibilityEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policiesInternal Controls & Process ImprovementDesign, implement, and maintain internal controls appropriate for a growing businessIdentify and remediate control gaps, inefficiencies, or manual workaroundsImprove documentation of accounting policies and proceduresDrive process improvements and system optimizationCash Management & TreasuryOversee cash management, liquidity, and working capitalMonitor daily cash activity and bank balancesCoordinate ACH, wire, and payment processes with appropriate segregation of dutiesSupport lender reporting and covenant complianceBudgeting, Forecasting & Management ReportingSupport leadership with annual budgeting and periodic reforecastingPrepare cash flow projections and management reporting packagesProvide variance analysis and insights on margins, costs, and operating performanceTax, Audit & ComplianceCoordinate with external advisors on federal, state, and local tax filingsOversee payroll tax and sales/use tax complianceManage audits, reviews, and information requestsEnsure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirementsLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop the accounting teamEstablish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectationsImprove accountability, accuracy, and timeliness across the departmentSystems & DataAct as finance lead for accounting system optimization and integrationsEnsure data integrity and consistency across systemsEvaluate and recommend system improvements as neededQualifications & ExperienceRequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinancePrior experience as a Controller5–10 years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAPExperience in services-based or transaction-intensive businessesProven ability to manage close, controls, and auditsPreferredCPA or MBAExperience in privately held or growing companiesExposure to multi-entity accounting environmentsAleron companies (Acara Solutions, Aleron Shared Resources, Broadleaf Results, Lume Strategies, TalentRise, Viaduct) are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
