Security Assistant
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide customer service counter support for the office.
Files, and uploads personnel security files to the shared security folder.
Monitors and assists the office in completing and submitting responses for the incoming security actions in the security folder.
Assists in developing and implementing security procedures and regulations pertaining to the physical protection of all personnel, and material/systems within the command. Applies knowledge and understanding of Defense, Navy and command security requirements and internal security procedures.
Assists in ensuring command personnel adhere to security regulations and policies concerning access to classified materials. Assists in providing advice and information to the command on classification procedures, courier requirements, and release of, or access to classified documentation. Assists in managing the handling, processing, transferring of classified documentation to a variety of personnel and visitors from both Defense and industry.
Assists in analyzing and evaluating security education and training requirements. Plans and conducts security education and training/briefing programs. Provide required security orientation and indoctrination briefings for newly arrived personnel and conducts debriefings for departing employees. Provides foreign travel briefings and approves foreign travel in DTS.
Assists in monitoring and managing DISS notifications, selects appropriate SMO relationships of personnel records in DISS, and accurately records security clearance access, foreign travel, RFAs/CSRs, incident reports, visit requests, and all other required actions in DISS.
Prepares and submits Pentagon access and visitor requests to the Pentagon for approval, and provide guidance to personnel on that process.
Assists the security manager in formulating and implementing the Command Personnel Security Program in e-QIP, DISS, DMDC, SWFT), and establishes and prepares reports. Assists in determining impact of personnel security policy on command operations and recommends appropriate actions. Fingerprint personnel using SWFT fingerprinting equipment.
Conduct background vetting, and prepares and submits SAAR-N forms for civilian, military, and contractor personnel.
Assists the security manager in the Industrial Security Program in e-QIP, DD Form 1172s, reviewing contracts, etc.
Assists in administering position sensitivity programs. Prepares request for security clearances for new personnel and initiates follow-up actions. Provides required responses, and ensures personnel security determinations and all other security actions are completed in a timely manner.
Ensures work areas are secure and visitor control procedures are implemented.
Administers, monitors, and assists in managing security building badging and access control system. Issues and deactivates building access for personnel accordingly.
Monitors, troubleshoots, reports, and acknowledges security system alarms.
Ensures correct documentation for clearance access to classified information is contained in the security files and record logs. Stores and retrieves classified documents in GSA approved security container. Assists in annual classified information inventories.
Performs background vetting, determine security requirements for position occupancy, and verifies investigation/clearance of personnel being hired. Resolves problems concerning personnel security by direct contact with OPM, The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Consolidated Adjudication Services, and other federal investigative agencies.
Assists in preparing instructions on safeguarding of security information, handling of classified documents, and preparing courier authorizations. Inspects classified work areas, facilities, and storage containers for compliance with security requirements.
Conducts security inspections of offices, spot checking files and desks. Reports violations to the Security Manager and supervisory personnel for appropriate action. Controls access for working, storage, or conference areas secure rooms where classified material and equipment are maintained. Completes all required forms and controls for access to secure rooms, including arming and unarming key pads and X-09/X10s, and completed required security checklists.
Assists in ensuring accountability of classified documents for the command. Develops methods and procedures for handling controlled documents and information. Provides guidance to headquarters’ personnel on mailing procedures for classified material. Reviews documents prior to release to ensure conformance to security instructions, directives, and applicable Department of Navy guidance.
Assists the security manager with the tasker system and reports, including researching, coordinating, gathering, and compiling information.
Performs other security related functions and tasks as directed by the security officer and/or security manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required to possess, at a minimum, intermediate skills and experience in office automation software (i.e. Microsoft Office Windows 10 based program or higher) specifically Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, DCPDS, TWMS and security databases (e -QIP, DISS, DMDC, SWFT, etc.)
Must have an Active Secret Clearance at the time of application
Pay Range: $80k to $84k
