Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)Plymouth County, MA - HybridFull-timePosition Overview:This Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) will be responsible for overseeing all things land survey - ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely project delivery. The PLS will also play a crucial role in supporting our engineering projects by providing precise data and boundary information. This is a senior role who will serve as a key leader to help elevate standards, oversee crews, and shape STE’s survey practice.Technology & Innovation:STE’s survey practice uses modern systems like RTK GNSS systems, robotic total stations, Carlson/AutoCAD, and cloud-based data workflows. Experience with hydrographic, bathymetric, drone/UAS mapping or laser scanning is a plus.Responsibilities:Survey & MappingLead our team of survey technicians in best practices, as well as enhance current standards and proceduresConduct various types of surveys, including boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveysUtilize advanced surveying equipment and software to collect accurate data, as well as train new team membersAnalyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan survey projectsSurvey mapping, drafting, plan creation, etc.Boundary DeterminationEstablish and re-establish property boundaries using legal documents, field measurements, and mathematical computationsVerify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations, in compliance with state and local regulationsProject ManagementCoordinate with project managers, engineers, other internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of survey data into project designsDevelop survey work plans, schedules, and budgets to meet project deadlinesRegulatory ComplianceStay updated on state and local laws and regulations pertaining to land surveyingEnsure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and professional ethics requirementsTeam CollaborationCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide accurate survey data for project planning and executionMentor and train junior surveyors and support staff as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related fieldCertification as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in the state of MassachusettsMinimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with a demonstrated track record of successful projectsStrong knowledge of surveying principles, legal aspects, and geodetic control networksExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work independently and in a team-oriented environmentProficient in relevant software, e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Carlson
