Job Description
Referral and Prior Authorization CoordinatorWell-established Cardiology practice in the Fort Pierce, FL area seeks an individual with extensive experience with Referrals, Prior Authorizations and Procedure scheduling.Responsibilities:· Responsible for the coordination, processing, obtaining prior authorizations, and requesting reports for a variety of medical referrals for services/procedures as requested by medical providers· Collaborate with other referral staff, medical providers, and patient care support staff to effectively communicate and ensure successful tracking and coordination of referrals· Communicate with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement· Call patient's insurance company to verify coverage and benefits; check for prior authorization/precertification requirements prior to any procedure· Send required information with all ordersSets priorities and organizes workSchedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information. This includes procedures in the Cath Lab and Stress LabAccurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing.Verifies information being entered into system is correct, i.e. spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc.Ensuring all necessary paper work for any patient -add on'' is received by the appropriate staffCompletes consents and ensures accuracy before submitting to the chart builder.Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and nursing staff members throughout the scheduling process.BENEFITSOur competitive salary and benefits package includes medical and dental insurance, 401(k), paid time off and life insurance.Requirements:Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s degree is preferred.Experience: A minimum of two years of precertification or referral coordination and EMR experience.Skills:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
