Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist acts as the primary liaison between patients, physicians, and referring providers. Working independently, the technologist performs both screening and diagnostic mammograms according to institutional policies, all under the supervision of the interpreting physician. The position requires a deep understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Adherence to radiation safety standards, proficiency in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and image evaluation are crucial aspects of the role.
Additionally, the technologist must stay informed of federal regulations governing mammography and ensure that all mammography exams meet or exceed these standards. Quality assurance and quality control testing for both film-screen and digital mammography must be conducted in compliance with federal regulations. The technologist may assist physicians with invasive breast imaging procedures and document contrast media-related activities in accordance with applicable policies.
Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
Must have completed initial mammography training and maintained required continuing education credits.
Certifications:
ARRT Certified (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
Certified Registered Mammographer (R.)(M.) or mammography registry-eligible, with 1 year to obtain registration after program completion.
State of Maryland License.
BLS Certification (through the American Heart Association).
Available Shifts:
Full-Time, Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Part-Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
