PHS- Volleyball Varsity Assistant Coach
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the athletic director(s).Develop the activities for the assigned sport, including appropriate practice and competition schedules, season records and other awards, equipment and uniform inventoryNotify student athletes of all policies, procedures, and training rules according to the sport assignedEmphasize skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, character development and discipline within the sport assignedSupervise student athletics during practice, competitions, or other activities, and correct student athlete conduct as appropriateMonitor academic progress of student athletes to ensure eligibilityCoordinate and secure all facilities and equipment, including uniforms or other supplies, used by the team and staffMaintain team rosterPerform any other responsibilities related to the coaching positions needed or directed by the athletic directorProvide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanshipWork with student athletes in a fair, understanding, tolerant, systematic, and patient mannerPromote school and community interest in the sport assignedHolding preseason or postseason parent meetingEnsure required physical examinations and forms are completed and submittedMaintain association membershipMaintain certification in IHSAA -mandated courses and CPRReport all injuries or other concerns QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Knowledge of the sport assigned, with prior successful coaching experience preferredFamiliar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport assignedIHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (training available)First Aid and CPR certified as well as knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol (training available)Ability to communicate with parents and studentsAbility to address situations dealing with blood, bodily fluids, and tissueAbility to foster positive student-athlete relationships, and to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the communityExhibits high standards of professional ethics and conductSuccessfully complete criminal history and DCS clearances SALARY: Coaches are paid a stipend according to the season of the assigned sport. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes. Visually able to monitor athlete's performance. Sitting, standing for periods of time, lifting, reaching and may require carrying of equipment (up to 50 pounds).
