Specimen Collector (Male Needed Per DOT Regulations)
**Job Description**
Fastest Labs of West Columbia is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Specimen Collector to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our drug testing process. As a Specimen Collector, you will be responsible for the collection, documentation, and initial testing of urine, oral, hair, &/or nail specimens from male clients in a professional and respectful manner.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Collect urine, oral, hair, & nail specimens from male clients following strict chain-of-custody protocols.
Observe Male clients during the specimen collection process to ensure integrity.
Ensure client identification and proper labeling of specimens to maintain accurate records.
Conduct initial screening tests and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
Maintain a clean and organized collection area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Handle confidential client information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Provide clear instructions to clients on the specimen collection process.
Monitor and record temperature readings of specimens to ensure their validity.
Manage and document all specimens collected, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Communicate effectively with clients and team members to ensure a smooth and efficient collection process.
Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
**Qualifications:**
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical or laboratory fields is a plus.
Comfortable working with male clients and maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
Prior experience in a medical or laboratory setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to follow strict procedures and protocols.
Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Comfortable working with male clients and maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
**Work Environment:**
This position operates in a professional office environment and involves frequent interaction with clients.
Protective equipment and adherence to health and safety guidelines are required.

This role involves conducting observed collections in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. According to DOT guidelines, observed collections are necessary when there is a need to ensure the specimen’s integrity, such as in cases of suspected tampering or when a previous specimen was invalid. The observer must be of the same gender as the donor. As such, this position requires a male candidate to perform observed collections on male clients. Understanding and adhering to these regulations is essential to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our drug testing process.
