Project Engineer

HyperStrong is a global leader in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), delivering utility-scale energy storage solutions that support grid reliability, renewable energy integration, and the transition toward a more sustainable energy future.As our North American business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the engineering and execution of utility-scale BESS projects across the United States.This position will serve as a key technical interface between engineering, project management, construction, procurement, vendors, and commissioning teams, helping ensure projects move successfully from design through construction and final commissioning.What You'll DoAs a Project Engineer, you will provide engineering coordination and technical support throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction, commissioning, and project closeout.Key responsibilities include:Coordinate engineering activities for utility-scale BESS projects throughout design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.Serve as a technical interface between internal engineering teams, Project Management, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, customers, EPC partners, and equipment vendors.Review engineering drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and other technical deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and project compliance.Manage and coordinate technical RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, and engineering changes throughout project execution.Support resolution of technical issues identified during construction, installation, integration, and commissioning.Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding equipment specifications, technical requirements, documentation, and delivery-related engineering matters.Support QA/QC activities and help ensure engineering and construction work meets project specifications, applicable standards, and contractual requirements.Support project scheduling and track engineering deliverables, technical milestones, and critical project dependencies.Assist with change-order evaluation by identifying technical scope changes and their potential impact on project execution.Provide field engineering support during construction and equipment installation when required.Support commissioning readiness, system integration, testing, punch-list resolution, and turnover activities.Identify engineering risks and technical constraints early and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to drive timely resolution.Maintain organized technical documentation and ensure engineering decisions, changes, and project records are properly documented.Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of engineering standards, project execution processes, and future BESS deployments.What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.3+ years of Project Engineering or closely related engineering experience supporting projects in the United States.Experience supporting large-scale energy, power, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC projects.Demonstrated experience supporting projects through multiple phases of the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.Experience working with RFIs, technical submittals, engineering changes, QA/QC, procurement coordination, and construction support.Ability to review and understand engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and equipment requirements.Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate resolution of field and project engineering issues.Ability to work effectively across engineering, project management, construction, procurement, commissioning, vendors, and customers.Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced project environment.Willingness to travel to project sites as required.Preferred QualificationsExperience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:Utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)Renewable energy or utility-scale power projectsSolar + Storage projectsElectrical power systemsEPC project executionMedium-voltage / high-voltage electrical systemsPower conversion systems and electrical equipmentConstruction and field engineeringEquipment installation and system integrationCommissioning and acceptance testingVendor and subcontractor technical coordinationProject scheduling and engineering deliverable trackingWhat Makes Someone Successful in This RoleThe ideal candidate is not limited to producing engineering designs.
