Java Engineer
Job DescriptionJob Title: Sr. Java EngineerJob Location: Remote (9:00-5:00 EST)Eligibility/Clearance: Must be authorized to work in the USJob Introduction:The Sr. Engineer - Software Engineer will work as a senior member of asoftware development team and be responsible for the development,implementation and post deployment support of enterprise applications.In this role, the position works independently or with minimal input orsupervision from the engineering manager. As a member of the team, theposition is expected to participate in all phases of the SoftwareDevelopment Life Cycle (SDLC) and will be responsible for mentoringjunior members of the team, providing them ongoing guidance andsupporting their completion of work assignments.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-Architect advanced to complex system solutions, solicit and incorporateinputs from technical and operational teams and document for consumptionof development and testing teams.-Develop complex software programs, with clear and succinct codedocumentation, that meet the written and oral functional requirementsprovided by customer.-Fix defects in the home grown applications or third party softwareaccording to written and oral specifications.-Perform database design and create scripts to create and modifydatabase objects.-Work on deliverables, such data analysis, client report requests etc.with minimal to no guidance from Development Manager or seniordevelopers. Assist junior members of the staff by providing direction oncustomer requests and performing code review to ensure quality outcomes.-Actively participate and contribute in SDLC activities such as solutiondesign, work effort estimation, assisting peers with technicalchallenges and code reviews.-Lead a small team of developers - creates and assign work packages.Manage the work to its completion meeting the quality standards.-Works very closely with operations team and acquires expertunderstanding of the business processes and develop unit and integrationtest scenarios in accordance with system requirements and businessprocess changes. Provide expert advice to the testing team to createtest data manually and/or systematically to test software programs.-Perform production support activities such as monitor system processes,evaluate the outcome of system processes, work through systemexceptions, and create processes to monitor and report on the overallsystem health.-Work independently to understand the assigned work, deliver on agreedupon dates and raise issues/risks in a timely manner in case of risk todeliverables.-Create/modify artifacts and deliverables expected from the SDLC andchange management process such as project charter, proposed solutiondocuments etc.-Follow the SDLC and change management processes adopted by theorganization. Participate in change management meetings to provideimpact assessment of requested change, update the defect tracking systemwith most up to date information and perform release management tasks asassigned by Development manager.Required Skills and Experience:-Expert proficiency in Object Oriented (OO) Programming: Strongknowledge in OO programming languages, and expert skill in at least one(preferably Java) is required.-Extensive knowledge of most prevalent and trusted technical discussionboards, portals and knowledge sharing internet sites for help withtechnical challenges.-Knowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques used forapplication development is required.-Strong ability to think logically and structurally and have attentionto detail is required.-Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audience.-Strong Analytical skills and strong Communications skills, both written(with emphasis on technical documentation) and verbal is required.-Ability to work independently on any size project.Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or relatedfield and minimum 10 years of relevant experience.PDN-a1692608-bab6-4de5-904b-1d2d82873398
