They are seeking to add a talented leader to their growing IT department.The OpportunityOur client is looking for a strategic and hands-on Manager of Database Administration to lead their expert IT team. This is a crucial role for the organization, responsible for the architecture, performance, and scalability of their core database systems.You will take ownership of an environment that manages extremely large datasets (over 2 billion records) and will be empowered to diagnose complex issues, architect innovative solutions, and drive the database strategy forward. If you are a leader with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and a strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, we want to hear from you.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of database administrators.Architect and manage robust database solutions that support critical business functions, including trading, compliance, and reporting.Oversee the performance, integrity, and security of extremely large and complex databases.Develop and implement advanced strategies for query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and data archiving to ensure peak performance and scalability.Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, log shipping, and replication.Collaborate closely with engineering, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical database requirements.Drive the automation of routine database tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, T-SQL, or Python.Provide expertise and guidance on cloud database solutions, including Azure SQL, AWS RDS, and managed PostgreSQL.Serve as the key technical expert for diagnosing and resolving the most complex database performance issues.What We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.10+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 8 years focused on Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above).Proven, hands-on experience managing and optimizing very large datasets (2+ billion records).Strong professional experience with PostgreSQL administration and optimization.Deep expertise in query optimization, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and database internals.Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, T-SQL, Bash, or Python to build automation.Familiarity with cloud database technologies (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora, etc.).Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for making complex technical concepts accessible.Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare) is a significant plus.Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator, PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are highly preferred.What's on OfferOur client is committed to building a healthy and inclusive work culture and provides a competitive and comprehensive compensation package.Competitive Salary: The current estimated range for this role is $135,000 - 185,000.
