Bus Operator - Tri Delta TransitHourly Wage: $25.35 $36.81 (based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement and years of service)Role Purpose: Our Operators serve as true ambassadors being the daily face representing Keolis and Tri Delta Transit throughout the community, ensuring our riders are receiving a safe, courteous, and on-time service while riding fixed route, paratransit, microtransit or non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT).Knowledge and Experience:Must be minimum 21 years of age3 years verifiable valid California Class B Commercial Drivers license (CDL) with air brake and Passenger "P" EndorsementMust have a current Verification of Transit Training certificateSuccessful completion of Keolis provided Customer Service TrainingMust have clean driving record DMV printout required for the last 10 yearsMust have stable work historyFirst Aid Certification (Provided by the Company) is required for employees operating the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) serviceSkills:Excellent customer service skillsPositive attitude and enjoy working with the general publicAttention to detailExcellent communication skillsExceptional judgementFast learnerAble to follow directionsTime management skillsMust be able to correctly use all electronic technology after training has been providedKey Accountabilities:OperationsOperators shall complete pre-trip vehicle inspection checks to ensure all equipment, including the wheelchair lift, is operational and safe prior to entering revenue service. This includes relief pre-trip vehicle inspections when a driver is relieving another driver for a scheduled end of shift.Operators shall complete a post-trip vehicle inspection upon completion of the service day. Operators will check for lost and found items, all windows and hatches closed, cut seats, graffiti or other acts of vandalism, and damages to vehicle interior or exterior not previously noted on the vehicle damage report. Lost and found items must be turned in to dispatch.Operators shall, upon request by Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority (ECCTA), distribute notices to passengers, participate in special passenger counts, and assist in monitoring and supervision of ECCTA operations.Operators will be required to honor special passes as directed by ECCTA. Operators will not handle cash or make change but will ensure cash is correctly inserted into fareboxes, and issue credit tickets when applicable.Operators will record accurate ridership counts by passenger category on GFI Fareboxes or other counting devices provided on the buses.Operators are required to log into their Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), Clipper units, and fareboxes using accurate route and run information at the start of each shift.Operators must verify the accuracy of the headsign at each route terminus. Any malfunctioning or incorrect headsigns must be reported to maintenance in writing as soon as possible.Operators shall refer to the MDT at all times during service to maintain accurate adherence to the scheduled route time and trip manifest.Operators must wear uniforms at all times while in service and must display a clean and professional appearance.Operators are responsible for keeping the vehicle clean and sanitary during their shift.Customer ServiceEnsure customers feel welcomeEffectively communicate with passengers especially in the event of service disruptionsProvide passengers with assistance as neededAccommodate passengers with information such as schedule, guidance, etc..SafetyEnsure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performanceFamiliarity with assigned routing and detoursAwareness of ADA Policies and ProceduresUnderstanding of ADA ComplianceProper operation of all wheelchair lifts, for each bus modelReport immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow the incident and accident reporting proceduresComply with the rules, laws and regulations relating to road safetyReport any situation posing a risk to road safety to supervisorPromote road safety when driving a vehiclePhysical Demand and Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
