Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionCERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CODER POSITION OVERVIEW:As part of the OCC Central Billing Office (CBO) you will work in collaboration with the other Certified Medical Coders (CPC). Certified Medical Coders are responsible for all aspects of coding patient office visits and surgical procedures.Certified Professional Coder Essential FunctionsCoding of orthopedic office and surgical procedures using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.Assignment of modifiers to procedures.Works closely with physicians and other providers/office staff regarding completeness of office notes and operative reports to ensure accurate coding.Serves as a resource and subject matter expert and as a coding consultant to providers.Identifies discrepancies, potential quality of care, and billing issues.Timely entry of office and surgical coding charges and assignment of copays and other service payments.Works closely with other members of the coding/billing team as well as the other departments within the CBO team.Handles special projects as requested.Salary & Benefits$20-$25 Per hourMedical, Dental and Vision InsuranceGenerous PTO package and paid holidaysCompany-paid life insurance and long-term disability insuranceAbility to purchase accident insurance, short and long-term disability insurance.Opportunities for internal training and developmentAnnual stipend for continuing education in certain positionsRetirement Plan eligibility after one year of service with eligibility in company profit sharingMost positions offer Monday – Friday work schedulesRequirementsCERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CODER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret office notes and operative reports for coding purposes.Detail oriented and accuracy in coding.Accuracy in data entry into practice management system.Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.Knowledge of CCI edits for coding accuracy.Independent worker with good communication skills.Knowledge of Allscripts a plus.Proof of up to date CEUs and coding certification.Experience RequiredMinimum of one year of orthopedic coding experience.Professional license or certification requirements: CPC certificationValid drivers license to travel to other offices, if needed.Desired Qualifications And SkillsMinimum 1 year of college2 years of office experience in medical codingSpine surgery coding experience a plusWorking ConditionsTypical business office environmentPossibility of local travelConstant viewing of computer monitor, mousing and typingFrequent standing, walking and sittingFrequent stooping, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling 10 pounds or moreOccasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focusHours of business are typically Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Salary Description$20.00 to $25.00 per hour
