Through an integrated, holistic approach, our professionals provide solutions for building envelope, energy efficiency, sustainability, code advisory and construction advisory projects.SOCOTEC offers competitive salary and benefits, mentorship, training, and social activities.SOCOTEC is proud to announce that it has been officially certified as a Great Place to Work by the renowned global authority on workplace culture, Great Place to Work®.Job DescriptionForensic analysis of component system failures and water infiltration of building envelopeOn site observations to investigate and document building envelope conditionsTechnical writing abilities a must – you will need the ability to compile observation data and research to produce a complete succinct report of investigationAttend meetings with building owners, contractors, developers and architects carries out both field and laboratory testingTesting includes, but is not limited to:Window testing both in the laboratory and in the field; Air Barrier testing in the field;ASTM E330 testing in the laboratory;Fastener withdrawal testing in the field and laboratory;Wind uplift testing in the field and in the laboratory Forensic analysis of field samples;Moisture testing of field samples; andField and laboratory testing of exterior wallsTraining and development of other staffReview calculations relating to new and existing buildings for Windloading (ASCE 7); load calculations and attachment requirements. Building drainage calculcations. Work with the design staff in the development of detailing to support calculated design loads. Participate in forensic analysis of existing buildings, and develop the in house protocols for testing of in-service materials. Work with the principal of the firm in the development of the field analysis practices and join in the training of field staff to enhance their skills in ASTM E2128 and ASTM E 2018 field evaluations. Participate in report writing and the development of report templates particularly in the area of materials analysis. Consult on existing facade design for enhancement or maintenance type projects: forensic review and analysis, Bid Document and repair detail preparation, direct Bidding Phase, and Construction Administration. Well versed in exterior wall construction. Communicate effectively and establish relationships with clients and job related management teams. Providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completedAdvise architects and clients on building enclosure performance, constructability, and durability. Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity. Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
