As a courteous and professional individual, this role is well-suited for those who are skilled in public relations. Some of the Patient Service Representative’s duties can include:Greeting and admitting patients in a friendly manner and keeping them informed of their appointment statusScheduling appointment times for patientsMaintaining forms to be given to, filled out for, or received from patientsReceiving payments and co-payments and record patient charges for the billing departmentDelivering messages to the physician or physician staffAssisting with routine procedures encountered in the physicians’ officeObtaining prior authorization for tests and surgical proceduresQualifications:Interpersonal skills, including customer service experience and the ability to work cooperatively with patients, physicians, staff, and external partiesProficient typing and keyboarding skillsStrong organizational skills and experience with office equipment, including computers and phonesKnowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding proceduresAble to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situationsAble to multitask efficientlyEssential Job Functions:Regular and predictable attendance is requiredAdequate hearing to perform job duties in person and over the telephone; able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions.Must be able to speak in order to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patients and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care services.Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential Must submit to COVID-19 testing as required by CMS and other regulatory agencies according to FCMC policyHave full COVID-19 vaccination (some exemptions allowed)Work Environment:FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patientsPotential exposure to blood, body tissue and fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous wasteOccasional exposure to bodily injury, loud/unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stressThe Location:Located in southeast Idaho, Franklin County is surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, giving ample opportunity for outdoor recreation.
