Dean of Students - (Hiring for 26-27) West Baton Rouge Parish School System Port Allen High School - Port Allen, Louisiana Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in West Baton Rouge Parish Job Details Job ID: 5735739 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: May 25, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Description Dean of Students Location: Site Level School Reports To: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range : Per WBR Salary Schedule Terms of Employment: 9 Months GENERAL OVERVIEW Under the direction of the Principal, the Dean of Students serves as leader in the planning, coordination, and administration of school activities and programs, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, student conduct and attendance, athletics and extracurricular programs, school plant operations, andother duties as deemed necesssar by the principal.The Dean of Students is a keyschool leader responsible for supporting student behavior, culture, and overall well-being. The role blends discipline, mentorship, and administrative leadership to create a safe and positive learning environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Shares with the Principal and Administration the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of students. Serves as a liaison between students, parents, faculty, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and addressing concerns . Assists in the daily operations of the school. Resolves all discipline concerns in a fair and just manner, and maintains records of any disciplinary action taken. Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on matters of discipline, attendance, academics and welfare. Monitors student attendance, engages with students who are struggling, and implements strategies to improve student engagement. Works with school staff, and community and government agencies on concerns relating to drug abuse and truancy from school. Assists developing any administrative practices dealing with campus control and security. Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student’s experiences in the school. Confers with and makes appropriate referrals to psychologists, social workers, and other appropriate personnel. Assists with campus supervision. Designs and implements a professional growth plan. Coordinates alternative educational placement of students. Provides mentoring services to students and consultation services to parents. Recommends appropriate programs for students needing assistance. Instructs and advises students regarding their responsibility to adhere to school rules and policies to foster a safe school environment, and to respect other individuals and property. Assists in the administration of the In-School Suspension Program and Co-curricular activities. Performs all such other duties assigned by the Principal or appropriate Supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other related field; Master’s Degree in education preferred; Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate; __Minimum of five years of successful teaching or professional experience preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS -Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
