Electrical Project Manager - Data Centers
Overview
As Electrical Project Manager for data centers, you lead electrical construction and upgrade programs to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of mission-critical systems. You’ll oversee self-perform crews and union collaborators, coordinate MEP disciplines, and apply journeyman-level expertise across hyperscale facilities. Your work supports commissioning, safety, and compliance with CSA and local codes, driving reliable electrical infrastructure. ResponsibilitiesManage all phases of electrical construction projects from preconstruction to turnover for data centers and semiconductor facilitiesDirect self-perform crews and subcontractors, coordinating with IBEW labor and ensuring quality and adherence to union agreementsDevelop and manage schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, and corrective actions to meet financial targetsCoordinate MEP design intent and construction sequencing with mechanical, structural, and civil teams to minimize conflictsOversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems (MV, switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, bus duct, grounding, cable management)Enforce safety programs, job hazard analyses, and quality control; lead site safety meetings and CSA/local code compliancePrepare and review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs; work with engineering to resolve design issues and propose constructible solutionsManage client and stakeholder communications, provide status reports, and lead coordination meetings with owners, consultants, and vendorsOversee procurement and onsite acceptance of major electrical equipment and coordinate vendor involvement during installation and commissioningMentor field staff, promote continuous improvement, and capture lessons learned for future projects
Key requirementsJourneyman electrician credential or equivalent electrical trade certificationMinimum 7+ years electrical construction experience with at least 4+ years in project management on data center, hyperscale, or semiconductor projectsExperience managing self-perform crews and working with IBEW union labor agreementsStrong knowledge of mission-critical electrical systems (UPS, generators, MV distribution, switchgear, PDUs, bus duct) and MEP coordinationFamiliarity with CSA standards and local electrical codes; experience ensuring compliance and inspectionsExperience with construction management processes: scheduling (MS Project), procurement, cost control, change management, submittal review, commissioningExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsComfortable in fast-paced, high-demand environments; strong problem solving and decision making under schedule pressurePreferred: Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, PMP or equivalent certification, and self-perform electrical contracting best practicesleadershipcommunicationstakeholder managementmedium voltage distributionUPSgenerators
