Underground Shift Supervisor

MAIN PURPOSE: The Underground Shift Supervisor oversees all underground personnel and equipment. Supervisors will lead and support front-line employees in executing daily mining activities safely, efficiently, and to plan. Supervisors at Eagle set the tone for safety, teamwork, and performance. Guiding, coaching, and supporting their employees to achieve results while maintaining a positive, respectful workplace. They are the visible link between leadership intent and field execution, ensuring operational excellence through care, consistency, and communication. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES: Lead by example, demonstrating commitment to safety, respect, integrity, and excellence. Communicate daily goals, expectations, and changes clearly to the employees. Encourage open communication, active involvement, and idea sharing. Provide timely feedback, recognition, and coaching to support employee growth. Promote accountability and ownership for safe, high-quality work. Support shift handovers and ensure company communications are passed down. Visible and engaged in the field. Oversee the safety of all underground operations, recognize health and safety hazards and act immediately to maintain a safe work environment. Responsibility for day-to-day shift planning and co-ordination of production levels, workers, equipment, levels, and supplies. Conduct daily workplace inspections of all working areas. Conduct daily “toolbox” safety discussions Partner with maintenance and electrical groups to ensure all preventative maintenance tasks are completed on time. Work with Technical Services, Maintenance, and other contractors to ensure all mine plans are met. Produce shift reports to management. Ensure employee compliance of policies and procedures Occasionally use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and other mechanical instruments and equipment to assist operations personnel in operating mine equipment and property. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. Secondary Engineering education preferred. At least 5 years of underground mining experience required. At least 3 years of supervisory experience preferred. Experience mining through stressed ground preferred. Experience in Cut and Fill and Long hole stoping mining methods preferred. Solid understanding of the mining process from planning, maintenance, and operations. Solid understanding of all underground mining equipment. KEY PERSONAL COMPETENCIES: Action Oriented - Initiates timely action to address important issues. HSEC ACCOUNTABILITIES Everyone in the workplace is responsible for his or her own safety and for the safety of their co-workers. Employees are responsible for performing all tasks in accordance with relevant HSEC Site Procedures, so as to work safely and keep the workplace safe. Report, as soon as practicable to their Manager any situations where HSEC requirements are not being conformed to within their work area Avoid endangerment to any other person through any act or omission Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts.
