Job Title: R&D Food ScientistLocation: Plymouth, MNType: Full-time permanentIndustry: Food ManufacturingShift: 1st ShiftPosition Summary:As anR&D Food Scientist, you'll lead the development and testing of innovative food products, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. This hands-on role supports product innovation, quality control, and cross-functional teams to drive excellence from concept to commercialization.Key Responsibilities:Product Development & Innovation:• Design, formulate, and test new products from concept through launch• Explore new ingredients, technologies, and trends• Modify existing formulations for improved quality and consistency• Support plant trials and troubleshoot process challengesTesting & Quality:• Conduct microbiological, physical, chemical, and sensory testing• Monitor production adherence to R&D specs• Document testing processes and maintain lab cleanliness and inventoryCross-Functional Support:• Collaborate with Quality and Supply Chain teams• Provide technical support on ingredients and finished goods• Create and manage product specifications and nutritional labeling• Lead sensory panels and summarize feedbackFood Safety & Compliance:• Ensure all R&D activities align with GMP and food safety standards• Collaborate on supplier and packaging approvals• Assist with corrective actions and root cause analysis• Participate in the Food Safety TeamQualifications:Minimum Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field• 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing or lab work (dairy experience is a plus)• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint• Experience with nutritional labeling (TraceGains NutriCalc is a plus)• PCQI or HACCP certification preferredSkills:• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities• Effective communication and documentation skills• Ability to interpret lab results and apply findings• Able to manage multiple projects and prioritiesPhysical Requirements:• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in varying temperature environments• Work occurs in office, lab, warehouse, cooler, and production floor• Travel required between Plymouth R&D center and Elk River production facilityBenefits:• Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance• HSA, FSA, and Dependent Care FSA• 401(k) with company match• Short & Long-Term Disability• Life & AD&D Insurance• Flexible PTO• Paid Holidays and Parental Leave• Employee Discount and Referral Program• Company-Sponsored Meal Plan• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)ZRJ-18808-Ljbffr
