optimize molecular biology experiments with minimal supervision.Perform qPCR assays, including assay design, optimization, standard curve generation, and efficiency analysis.Carry out nucleic acid extraction from diverse biological matrices using manual and kit‑based methods.Execute DNA and RNA quantification using spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods (e.g., NanoDrop, Qubit).Generate high‑quality, reproducible data to support research, development, and detection‑focused workflows.Prepare, optimize, and maintain buffers, reagents, and working solutions, with attention to stability, compatibility, and performance.Perform reagent performance comparisons, including shelf‑life and stress testing.Document reagent and buffer formulations, preparation methods, and defined QC acceptance criteria.Ensure consistent reagent quality and performance across experiments and studies.Handle biological samples (e.g., blood, bodily fluids, tissues) following best laboratory practices.Maintain sample integrity through proper storage, labeling, tracking, and documentation.Analyze experimental data using appropriate software tools and basic statistical methods.Maintain detailed, accurate, and compliant documentation, including lab notebooks, protocols, and technical reports.Summarize experimental findings clearly for internal stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.Contribute to SOP development, protocol updates, and supporting technical documentation.Maintain laboratory organization, equipment readiness, and inventory awareness.Follow established quality practices (GLP‑like rigor where applicable).Proactively troubleshoot equipment, assay, or process‑related issues.Identify opportunities to improve experimental workflows, consistency, efficiency, or data quality.Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and operations teams to advance project goals.Contribute practical, data‑driven insights to experimental planning and technical decision‑making.Role SummaryA Research Associate to Senior Research Associate in Molecular Biology is an experienced, hands‑on scientist who independently executes and optimizes molecular assays, supports detection‑focused research through rigorous experimentation and reagent development, and contributes technical expertise to cross‑functional teams with minimal supervision.Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong hands-on expertise in molecular biology techniques, with demonstrated proficiency in qPCR assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting.Proven ability to evaluate primer/probe performance, amplification efficiency, inhibition, sensitivity, and assay robustness.Solid experience in nucleic acid extraction from diverse biological sample types, with awareness of pre-analytical variables affecting detection outcomes.Proficiency in DNA/RNA quantification using spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods, including interpretation of purity and quality metrics.Demonstrated experience in buffer, reagent, and solution preparation, formulation optimization, and performance consistency testing.Ability to independently troubleshoot complex experimental challenges and apply data-driven solutions.Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate results to scientific and cross-functional audiences.Consistent record of maintaining experimental rigor, reproducibility, accurate documentation, and compliance with quality standards.Competence in biological sample handling, processing, storage, contamination control, and biosafety best practices.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project timelines with minimal supervision.Proven collaborative skills and effectiveness working across research, engineering, and operations teams.Microscopy experience (optional), including basic imaging or sample assessment, as relevant to project needs.Education & Industry Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or a related life sciences discipline required.Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field preferred and may offset required years of industry experience.Equivalent combination of education and hands‑on laboratory experience will be considered.Research Associate (RA):2–4 years of hands‑on laboratory experience in molecular biology or related disciplines.Senior Research Associate (Sr. RA):4–7+ years of hands‑on laboratory experience, preferably in an industry, diagnostics, or applied research $72,000– $85,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
