Senior Java Software Engineer
Full-Time, Direct Hire role. Please note, the client is unable to offer sponsorship at this time. 100% remote (with quarterly travel) or hybrid if local to DFW.Our client helps organizations manage risk, data protection, and compliance through industry-leading frameworks and tools. We are seeking a Senior Java Software Developer to design, build, and implement new features in an existing enterprise application. This is a back-end–focused role for an experienced developer who thrives in collaborative, test-driven, and agile environments.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.Drive quality through consistent application of Test-Driven Development (TDD) using a “test-first” approach.Build internal tools and user-facing features that enhance the user experience.Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and QA teams in an Agile environment.Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production and development environments.Mentor junior developers and participate in peer code reviews.Engage in paired programming, rotating teams periodically to encourage learning and innovation.Required Skills & Experience7+ years of professional experience in Java and Spring Boot.7+ years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).Proficient with GIT for version control.Skilled in testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies.Excited about Test-Driven Development and committed to software quality.Experience with, or openness to, AI-assisted development workflows, including pairing with tools such as OpenAI Codex to support test-driven development and code quality.Preferred Skills & Experience10+ years of Java/Spring Boot development.2+ years of practical TDD experience.Experience modernizing legacy applications or “strangling” monoliths.What We’re Looking ForMiddle to back-end developers (not front-end focused).Developers with strong, tenured experience in permanent roles (not short-term contractors).Curious engineers who want to deepen or grow their skills in TDD—we’re willing to teach if you’re eager to learn.
