Our R&D Team builds hull molds, deck molds and small part molds for companies across the United States!Job Type: Full-TimeShift: 1st Shift Monday-FridayJob Description: Responsible for performing a variety of activities as required by the customer and/or for production. Receives direction from both the Production Manager and Research and Development Supervisor to achieved the desire results as outlined by the customer, production, etc. The following are the duties and responsibilities of the Research and Development Assistant:Participates as an active member of the Product Development TeamMold repair for hull molds, deck molds, liner molds and small part moldsMold creation for hull molds, deck molds, liner molds and small part moldsSupport production startup and product launch. Analyze and understand the positioning of the product and translate functional needs into specificationsCollaborate with various departments or individuals from other disciplinesConfers with leadership, engineering, production manager and other personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processesEnsure activities are performed safely and meet specific quality standardsAnalyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyAssist in trouble shooting materials related issues for existing or new products.As required operate hand and power toolsPerform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or managementUnderstand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirementsFollow safety and health standards use of dust masks gloves, eye protection and other protective equipment as requiredAbility to work 8+ hour day shifts (standing, bending and reaching) and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.Required education and experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, 1 - 3 years of experience with gel coating and fiberglass experience. Prefer knowledge with fiberglass and resin, spray painting, composites, marine material knowledge and marine experience. Knowledge of proper use of tools for the job, including sand papers, DAs, polishers, and measuring tools. Experience working with wood, composites, FRP, fiberglass and plastics.Working ConditionsWorks inside with occasional outside work.Physical EffortLifting 50 lbs. maximum with infrequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs.; stooping, kneeling or crawling with moderate effort; reaching and handling is required often with moderate effort; pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs.Physical EnvironmentExposure to dirt, dust, hazardous substances and equipment does exist; they occur often. Protective eyewear is required when in production area.Sensory AttentionSenses of seeing, smelling and touching are required with extreme concentration for long duration.
