DutiesPosition SummaryA HS Math Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards, fostering academic growth, and supporting the development of all students. The teacher creates a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student achievement and collaboration with families and colleagues, while emphasizing mathematics and real world applications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunicates expectations for high levels of learning by studentsAssess students' knowledge and skillsSpecifies lesson purposes and learning objectivesProvides learning tasks of appropriate difficulty level for the studentsRelates new content to previously presented material and to students' prior knowledgeTeaches clearly, audibly, precisely and fluently while keeping to the topicInstructs with a variety of methods: lecture, modeling, demonstrating, experimenting, role playing, eliciting collaboration around content and signs of student comprehensionTeaches accurate principles, concepts, rationale, and applications as well as specific contentProvides students with prompt feedback on their learning, performance, and progressRequires students to recall, explain, compare, contrast and evaluate informationProvides students with prompt and appropriate feedback on their learning, performance and progressRe-teaches as necessarySummarizes the main points of the lesson, brings closure, and explains what will be taught nextEncourages student input for improvement of instructionEstablishes procedures for routine classroom management matters, communicates those procedures to students, and elicits feedback from students regarding their understanding of those proceduresQualificationsQualifications:Appropriate Illinois LicensureSuperior work habits and ethicsExcellent communications skills (written & verbal)Ability to work well with students, faculty and parentsInteracts with students in a mutually respectful mannerExpresses verbal enthusiasm for the lesson and student participationPraises students for accomplishments, on-task behaviors and appropriate conductGives all students opportunities to ask questions, contribute, and otherwise participate in class activitiesSalary/BenefitsCompensation:Annual Salary: Starting at $41,200 per the Mount Olive Education Association Contract (2024-2027).Contract Information can be found here > 2024-2027 Contract (2).pdfDistrict pays full TRS contribution, 80% Health Insurance, 100% Dental and Vision InsuranceAdditional NotesTypical math courses taught with this position would be Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and College Algebra.How to ApplyApplication Process:Interested candidates must send a letter of interest, resume, references, and unofficial transcripts to Mr. Martin by June 3rd, 2026.
