Our development programs are also delivering thousands of new rental homes and apartments as part of our commitment to help solve the housing supply shortage.Job DescriptionThe entry-level Apprentice Technician (ApprenTech) builds experience in essential maintenance trades, including but not limited to HVAC, appliance repair, plumbing, and electrical work through hands-on training. The role is a structured six-month experience, designed to develop residential maintenance skills, increase customer service and expand understanding of the single-family rental housing industry.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.Assist Technicians with routine maintenance and repairs including but not limited to HVAC systems, appliances, plumbing, and electrical componentsTroubleshoot and resolve issues with home appliances under supervisionPerform preventive maintenance tasks regarding faucets, sinks, toilets, water heaters, garbage disposals, drain lines, and other minor plumbing repairsRepair wall holes, texture, touch up and paint walls and trim and other minor paintingFollow safety procedures and company policies at all timesActively participate in training sessions and hands-on learning opportunitiesComplete assigned online coursework during in-office daysContribute to the successful completion of work orders with the maintenance teamContribute to the deliverables and timelines of project work with the construction teamContribute to “out-caring” for residents and prospective residents with support teamsDemonstrate Tricon’s “out-caring” culture with resident and team member interactionsQualifications:Great communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to correspond effectively with team members, residents, and vendorsExperience in leveraging technology (iPhone, time management apps)Ability to work efficiently and multi-taskThe enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and become a professional Maintenance TechnicianAn effective team player with a positive attitudeMinimum Requirements:Trade/vocational school graduateMust be able to work in environmentally and physically challenging working conditionsDaily travel to work site (i.e. in the field, at a property or at the office)Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including:Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.Regularly required to stand and move; use hands to grasp, squeeze, finger, handle, and feel; reach, push, and pull with hands and arms; twist; reach overhead; stoop, kneel, squat, bend, and crouch.Regularly required to climb and descend stairs and ladders.Regularly lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.If driving a company-provided vehicle: coordinate hands and feet, incorporating vision and hearing, to drive safely.At Tricon, we are committed to creating a workplace where every individual is valued for their unique contributions, experiences, voices, and backgrounds.
