Database Engineer
As a Database Engineer at Resource Data, you will support and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems along with cloud infrastructure environments that power mission-critical applications. You will work closely with developers, IT-security teams, and government stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing database and infrastructure solutions.This role focuses on improving system performance, supporting modernization efforts, ensuring data integrity, and translating application requirements into effective database and infrastructure designs within a complex enterprise environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and support Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems in enterprise environmentsMaintain and optimize cloud and hybrid infrastructure supporting critical applicationsTranslate application and software requirements into database and infrastructure solutionsPerform database tuning, performance optimization, and schema modificationsSupport system integrations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes in coordination with stakeholdersPerform backup, recovery, and data integrity monitoring activitiesConduct security reviews and support IT-security validation and compliance effortsDocument system configurations, processes, changes, and operational proceduresCollaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure reliable and secure system operationsIdentify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, and system architectureBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experienceExperience with Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration or engineeringExperience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshootingUnderstanding of database architecture, data modeling, and system design principlesExperience supporting system backups, recovery, and data integrity processesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex technical environmentsAbility to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong documentation and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting hybrid environments combining legacy systems with modern cloud infrastructure (specifically GCP)Experience working in consulting environments involving direct client interaction and project delivery responsibilitiesExperience delivering IT solutions with government agencies
