Respiratory Therapist / Nurse

Job TitleThis employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.Job FunctionsGenerally responsible for the setup of highly technical equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and CPAP unitsAlso responsible for providing technical assistance with equipmentIncumbent may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as wellProvides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need and Lincare policy, frequently in patients' homesRequires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's licensePerforms complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with Lincare policies and proceduresMaintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy conceptsFollows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency PlanningRepresents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of written reportsFacilitates prescription collectionMaintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standardsWorks on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basisFrequency is determined by the center size and the number of employees available to share in the responsibilityMust respond in a timely mannerWork ExperienceLevel 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other patient care, RequiredLevel 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, RequiredLevel 3 - Minimum of three years in home healthcareMay be involved in training of other Healthcare Specialists, RequiredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patientsComputer literateClinician authorized within scope of practice (as established by applicable state law or if none, by the applicable national board) to provide all patient care services offered by Lincare from time to timeSubject to state law/regulation, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this positionIf applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to a valid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for CRTs and RRTs.Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis, a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state lawLicenses and CertificationsMust have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite certification, registration, and/or license described below, RequiredMust remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or national board governing clinical practice or as otherwise permitted by lawIn all states, CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position, Required
