A tutor may be a currently enrolled Polk State student or a person with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Tutors must demonstrate proficiency in the subjects in which they tutor and have taken and passed with a grade of "B" or better in the course(s) in which they will tutor.Essential Functions/DutiesProvide individual or small group instructional reinforcement for disabled students.Maintains confidentiality at all times regarding student, office records, and information.Performs all tasks with a friendly, professional work attitude at all times.Typical QualificationsRequired Skills:Good reading and writing skillsAbility to write legiblyAbility to perform repetitive tasks with patienceAbility to work well with a diverse student populationAbility to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivatedWell-developed interpersonal skillsGood judgmentRequired Education:Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).Preferred Education:A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university.Tutors are allowed to work a maximum of 25 hours per week.Please note that positions may not be available at the current time.
