Our work focuses on transportation access, essential resources, and technology-driven solutions that strengthen reentry, family connection, and long-term stability.Position SummaryWe are seeking a mission-driven Mobile App Developer to support the development of our rideshare and transportation-access mobile application. This role will focus on coding and building the core mobile app functionality that powers rider and driver experiences.This position is volunteer-based during development, with the intention to transition into a paid role after product launch and funding activation.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain the mobile rideshare application (rider and driver flows)Write and maintain mobile app code for iOS and Android (native or cross-platform)Build core rideshare features such as trip requests, routing, notifications, and in-app communicationIntegrate APIs, mapping services, and backend systemsCollaborate with UI/UX designers and product leadsEnsure app performance, security, and scalabilityTroubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvementsRequired QualificationsExperience building mobile applications (React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or similar)Familiarity with RESTful APIs and backend integrationExperience with geolocation or location-based servicesAbility to work independently in a remote environmentStrong problem-solving and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with rideshare, logistics, or transportation platformsFamiliarity with accessibility best practicesExperience with secure authentication and user data protectionInterest in social impact or nonprofit technology workCompensationThis is a volunteer position during development.The role is expected to transition to a paid position after launch, contingent on funding and organizational growth.Time Commitment25–30 hours per week with flexible scheduling.How to ApplyPlease email your interest, along with links to relevant work (GitHub, portfolio, or past projects), to:m.kirby@looproots.orgQualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview.
