They're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the communication platforms, APIs, and middleware that power a growing ecosystem of connected devices.This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges rather than simply building business applications.You'll work on high-performance software that spans cloud services, device communication, distributed systems, APIs, and cross-platform applications where reliability, scalability, and efficiency matter.What You'll Be Doing:• Building backend applications using TypeScript and Node.js• Designing and developing REST and GraphQL APIs• Creating scalable middleware that enables communication between software and connected devices• Developing cloud-native solutions within AWS environments• Contributing to distributed systems architecture and platform design• Collaborating with engineering teams to improve software performance, maintainability, and code reuse• Participating in architecture discussions and technical design decisionsWhat We're Looking For:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline• 5+ years of professional software development experience• Strong TypeScript and Node.js expertise• Experience building backend services, APIs, and microservices• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and reactive systems• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS• Strong understanding of software design principles, testing, CI/CD, and version control• Excellent communication skillsPreferred Experience:• AWS Serverless Architecture• Distributed Systems• NestJS• Angular (v13+)• IoT, device communication, networking, automation, industrial technology, or hardware-connected software environments• C++ development experienceLocation:Hybrid role for candidates located in the greater Chicago area.Compensation:Base salary around $140,000 plus profit sharing.This team maintains a high technical bar and is looking for engineers who can demonstrate deep understanding of the technologies they use every day.If you've built meaningful TypeScript applications, enjoy architecture-level problem solving, and want to work on products used globally, let's connect.#TypeScript #NodeJS #SoftwareEngineering #AWS #CloudEngineering #GraphQL #DistributedSystems #IoT #EmbeddedSystems #TechCareers
