IT Support Specialist (Contingent)
We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in support of the Institute for Security Governance (ISG). The IT Support Specialist will ensure the seamless operation of IT systems used by ISG faculty, staff, contractors, and students, providing technical support related to hardware, software, and network systems.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0700-1700 Pacific Time
Period of Performance: Base Year + 4 Option Years
1+ years of experience minimum required
Candidates with a security clearance and Security + Certification will be prioritized

IT Help Desk Support
Provide timely technical support to ISG faculty, staff, contractors, and students.
Address Tier 1 support issues, create help desk tickets, and escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2.
Resolve escalated Tier 2 tickets, ensuring updates are recorded in the NPS Ivanti Service Desk system.
Offer on-site support for in-residence classrooms and mobile education events.
System Management and Maintenance
Install, operate, and maintain desktops (Windows and Apple OS), laptops, iOS tablets, mobile phones, printers, and ceiling-mounted projectors.
Continuously monitor IT systems, providing direct and remote support as needed.
Develop training materials for IT resources and assist with connecting personal devices to NPS and visitor networks.
Level 1 Support
Diagnose and resolve basic IT issues including user errors, equipment malfunctions, and software problems.
Provide initial service request assessments and attempt resolution prior to escalation.
Offer training and technical assistance to users.
Maintain the ISG webpage and ensure full functionality of the ISG computer lab.
Level 2 Support
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software conflicts, replacing defective components and performing upgrades.
Monitor ISG’s LAN, ensuring reliable network access.
Regularly patch and update IT systems to maintain security and availability.
Conduct trend analysis on recurring issues to propose long-term solutions.
Documentation and Reporting
Keep accurate records of help desk requests and their resolutions.
Submit weekly reports on service requests, resolutions, escalations, and trends.
Meetings and Communication
Attend ITACS meetings, including quarterly All Hands, Lab Managers' meetings, and weekly Technology Assistance Center meetings.
Provide status updates on IT systems and issues to management.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting various operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android).
Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IAT-2 level certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months.
Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to develop IT support documentation, and proficiency in problem-solving in high-pressure environments.
Work Schedule:
Normal working hours are 0700-1700 Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
Ad-hoc telework may be authorized by the Government Technical Point of Contact (TPOC).
Security Requirements:
Must have or be able to pass a favorably adjudicated T3 security investigation.
Secret Clearance is strongly preferred.
U.S. Citizenship required.
