Assembly Engineer

Position Title: Assembly Engineer Location: Georgetown KYCompensation: $35/hr - $40/hr (W2 only)Contract Duration: 12 months, with strong potential for extension depending on performance and project requirementsWork Authorization: Green Card holders or US Citizens only (No sponsorship provided) Position Overview:Assembly Engineer – Final Assembly Production Engineering We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Assembly Engineer to join our Client's Final Assembly Production Engineering team.This role is responsible for providing hands-on technical support across equipment design review, vendor buyoff, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment meets safety, quality, and productivity standards while supporting the delivery of reliable and cost-effective manufacturing systems.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to achieving departmental objectives focused on high-quality, efficient, and dependable plant equipment and control systems.Key ResponsibilitiesReview equipment designs and specifications; identify improvement opportunities and validate functionality through vendor buyoffsSupport installation, commissioning, and start-up of assembly equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are metAnalyze equipment performance, identify modification requirements, and implement improvements through trials and adjustmentsReduce project cost and timeline by validating equipment at vendor sites prior to installationMinimize on-site adjustment time by conducting pre-production quality trialsOversee vendor-led installations and support material flow processes (e.g., Kanban)Improve equipment performance during production trials through continuous adjustments and optimizationValidate quality outcomes using secondary verification methods (e.g., torque checks, vacuum profiles)Install, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Toyopuc, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi)Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance and production teams on newly implemented systemsAct as a subject matter expert and share knowledge across maintenance and production teamsTravel up to 50%, including occasional international assignmentsRequired QualificationsMinimum 2 years of experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Toyopuc, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, or Allen-Bradley)Strong understanding of PLC systems and industrial control principlesSolid knowledge of electrical circuits and industrial automation systemsAssociate degree, technical diploma, or trade certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent experienceAbility to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawingsWillingness and ability to travel up to 50% (including international travel)Ability to work overtime (up to 30%) as neededPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionallyFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working in varying environmentsCapability to climb ladders and work at heightsStrong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordinationAbility to work in hot, cold, or confined spaces and perform repetitive tasks over extended shiftsPreferred Qualifications2+ years of industrial maintenance experienceExperience with industrial robot programming and teachingFamiliarity with AGV/AMR setup and programmingKnowledge of safety scanners and safety system programmingUnderstanding of industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, FLNet, Profinet, etc.)Experience in automotive manufacturing environments
