Job SummaryThe Utility Foreman is primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating all the working at a job site including that of a crew of electricians, apprentices, and laborers. The Electrical Foreman will establish and adjust work timelines to meet the construction schedule for the project, and organize, coordinate all project materials, and equipment. The Electrical Foreman will also ensure that all work installed is completed in accordance with standards set forth by the Company all work will be completed on budget, on time, and in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. This position reports to the Superintendent.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollow all rules and procedures as required by Cooper Electrical Construction and meet all schedules and deadlines on a timely basis: ensure staff follow company procedures and policiesGenerates high quality work in alliance with the vision and mission of Cooper Electrical ConstructionWorks to establish, adjust, and maintain work sequences to meet the construction schedule for a given projectReads and interprets specifications, contract documents, plans and prepares sketches of proposed work as well as producing layout drawings and code calculations for projectsAnalyzes and quickly resolves any work problems that may arise and ensures that all deficiencies on any given project are corrected in a timely mannerConducts quality control inspections on project sitesCoordinates with all other crafts working on a job site to ensure smooth transitionsDetermines the types, sizes and quantity of wires, panel boards, switch boxes, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned jobs; requisitions materials as neededMake inspections to diagnose electrical trouble, and supervise the maintenance, repair, testing and installation of electrical equipment on the job sitesInstruct electricians, apprentices and laborers in the techniques and procedures employed in the electrical trade; inspect all work to determine that they follow the necessary operations and that work conforms to specificationsKeep all management team apprised of the status of any and all electrical workAddress all day-today personnel issues in the crew and assign work to other employees in the crewLeads by example sets, monitors and enforces the standards of safety, and exemplary quality of work set forth by Cooper Electrical ConstructionWilling to be on-call in case of emergencyPerforms related duties and responsibilities as requiredEducation and QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Trade School Certificate in Electrical Wiring or comparable experience requiredMinimum of four (4) years of experience as a journeyman in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using blueprints, schematics and sketches and OSHA 30 certifiedDemonstrates understanding and enthusiastic agreement with the vision and mission of Cooper Electrical Construction CompanyExperience using hand tools, small power tools, large power tools (threaders, benders, etc.)Experience studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installations proceduresExperience reading contract drawingsExperience installing and mounting electronic controls, device panels, sensors, and componentsExperience installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment following drawings of electrical layouts and building plansAbility to perform interlock wiring as requiredExperience testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devicesAbility to appropriately diagnose malfunctions in systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdown and take appropriate steps to correct the problemAbility to instruct and train workers to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixturesHas a clear understanding of the latest edition of the NECThis description is intended to be generic in nature.
