Education Aide The individual in this position assists teachers with curriculum planning, supervision of students, and teaching children in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environmentAssists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities, aids instructional efforts of the teacher.Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areasPlans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handoutsPresents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playingAssists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning conceptsPerform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materialsOperate and care for instructional equipment and materialsObserve and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved proceduresParticipate in professional growth activitiesFollow the communicated policies and procedures of the school districtPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceEducation: Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field, Required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred. Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field - Required. Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting – Preferred. Successful experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified - PreferredMinimum QualificationsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Ability to provide activities for students that encourage healthy growth. Child supervision skills. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students. Skill in preparing instructional aids and plansCertificationsMust hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional CertificatePhysical Requirements / Working ConditionsWorking Conditions: Normal classroom environment. Understanding of detention operations. Physical Demands: Routine physical activities in the classroom / school environment.
