LER TechForce is looking for an AMI Smart Meter Analyst.Position OverviewAMI Smart MeterAnalyst supporting large-scale Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) operations within a multimillion meter utility environment. This role is responsible for monitoring AMI system performance, troubleshooting communication and data issues, optimizing read performance, and supporting meter data integrity across head-end, MDMS, and billing systems. The position works cross-functionally with operations, field services, IT, vendors, and grid teams to ensure reliable AMI operations and continuous smart grid performance improvement.This is a contract role supporting a California-based utility with a strong likelihood of extension based on performance and program needs.Key ResponsibilitiesLead day-to-day AMI operations monitoring, issue identification, and troubleshooting across large meter populationsAnalyze and optimize AMI read performance, network health, and system reliabilitySupport RF Mesh, RFLAN, and cellular communication networks used for smart meteringMonitor and support Meter Data Management System (MDMS) operations, including data validation, exception handling, and billing data qualitySupport over-the-air (OTA) updates, firmware management, and meter configuration changesPerform AMI and billing data validation, including analysis of interval, register, and event dataUtilize SQL and analytical tools to investigate data flow issues across AMI head-end, MDMS, and downstream billing systemsRequired QualificationsExperience in AMI, smart metering, or utility metering operationsExperience supporting large-scale AMI deployments and operational environmentsStrong understanding of AMI system, including head-end systems, MDMS, and billing systemsHands-on experience with AMI communications technologies, including RF Mesh, RFLAN, and cellular networksExperience supporting firmware management, OTA updates, and meter configuration managementProven ability to troubleshoot complex system and data issues across multiple platformsPreferred ExperienceFamiliarity with Itron AMI platformsBackground in utility operations and large-scale AMI operational supportSQL skills with experience validating AMI and billing data flowsExperience working in a multi-vendor AMI environmentStrong collaboration skills with the ability to work across operations, IT, vendors, and field teamsEmployment DetailsEmployment Type: Contract (12 months, likely to extend)Work Location: Hybrid - Los Angeles county (2 days per week onsite, 3 remote)Compensation Range: $50-90/hourIdeal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is an AMI operations professional who thrives in large, complex utility environments, is comfortable working with high-volume meter data and communications networks, and is motivated to improve smart grid performance and system reliability through hands-on operational excellence.Click the Easy Apply button to learn more.
