ASCP Certified Medical Technologist - Night Shift
Join a dedicated clinical laboratory team in a full-time, on-site night shift role within a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This position involves operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and timely test results.Key Responsibilities:Perform quality control procedures and maintain detailed records.Document workload, billing information, and test results accurately.Receive, log, and process patient specimens, including centrifugation to separate components.Conduct special chemistry tests and prepare specimens with specific reagents following established protocols.Identify chemical compositions and monitor changes during testing.Adhere to standard precautions to maintain a safe work environment.Calculate and document test results, promptly notifying care units or physicians of critical values.Verify specimen identity and test appropriateness to ensure patient safety.Stay informed on new testing methods, products, and instrumentation.Communicate effectively within the department and with supervisors to manage workload and urgent testing needs.Understand and apply age-specific normal ranges for test values, including pediatric and adult variations.Comply with all regulatory standards including CLIA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission.Adapt to changing workloads and staffing needs across shifts and sections.Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals and values.Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Technology program is required.Experience: Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably with night shift exposure, is highly valued.
