Folding/Cutting Operator

Job Description Position OverviewDearborn Offset Printing is seeking a highly experienced Folding & Cutting Operator to join our production team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining precision, efficiency, and quality within our commercial print finishing department.The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience operating programmable folders and hydraulic cutters, understands paper grain and stock characteristics, and can consistently meet production deadlines while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. Key ResponsibilitiesFolding Operations· Set up and operate paper folders (Stahl, Baum, or equivalent)· Configure plates, rollers, gates, scoring, and specialty folds· Adjust equipment for various stock weights, coatings, and grain direction· Maintain fold accuracy, consistency, and alignment throughout production· Troubleshoot jams and mechanical issues quickly to minimize downtimeCutting Operations· Operate and program hydraulic paper cutters (Polar, Challenge, or equivalent)· Read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and cut sheets· Ensure accurate sizing, squaring, and repeatable precision· Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards· Perform blade changes and routine preventative maintenanceGeneral Production· Collaborate with press and bindery teams to meet daily production goals· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment· Follow company safety protocols· Assist in additional finishing operations as needed (drilling, scoring, perforating, etc.) Qualifications· 5+ years of experience in commercial print finishing· Strong understanding of paper stocks, coatings, and grain direction· Experience with programmable cutters and buckle/combination folders· Ability to read job tickets and production schedules accurately· Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting ability· Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality control· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods About Dearborn Offset PrintingDearborn Offset Printing has proudly served the Downriver community for over 70 years.
