This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.Seeking a Director of Data to develop and lead the client's data strategy and governance program. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this role will be instrumental in leveraging data insights to support key business objectives, enhance data-driven decision-making, and improve operational efficiencies. The Director will define the vision, operating model, and roadmap for data strategy and governance, ensuring that data is a trusted, governed, and strategically leveraged asset. This role will also be responsible for building and leading a high-performing global team and working closely with stakeholders to establish a culture of data excellence.Responsibilities:Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with business goals, ensuring data is leveraged to drive commercial and operational valueDefine the target data architecture, identify master data sources, and ensure consistency of data definitions and taxonomiesCollaborate with Innovation, AI Development, and Enterprise Applications to implement a modernized, cloud-based data landscapeDesign, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive data governance frameworkCollaborate with Information Security and Risk teams to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulationsImplement data lifecycle management policies to ensure compliance and reduce operational riskOversee enterprise data quality initiatives, defining KPIs, cleansing programs, and ensuring effective Master Data ManagementCollaborate on the modernization of the data platform, ensuring a scalable infrastructure with a single source for reportingContribute to the AI roadmap, including identifying priority use cases, infrastructure needs, and measurable outcomesBuild, lead, and mentor a high-performing data governance and data management teamWork closely with senior leadership to identify and develop data-driven opportunitiesAct as a key liaison between technical and business teams, ensuring alignment between data capabilities and business needsRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, or a related fieldExtensive experience in data strategy development and execution, preferably within a legal or professional services environmentStrong knowledge of data governance frameworks and regulation (ISO27001, SOC2, GDPR, CCPA)Experience with data governance and cataloging technologies (such as Collibra or Microsoft Purview)Proven knowledge of AI and automation initiatives with measurable business outcomesExperience with data warehouses/lakes/lakehouses (such as Databricks or Snowflake), integration and API patterns, and scalable data orchestration technologies (such as Airflow or dbt)Experience with SQL databases and data visualization technologies (such as Power BI)Deep expertise with at least one major cloud platform (preferably Azure)Understanding of law firm operations, practice management, and business modelsAt least 5 years of managerial experience, preferably leading a comparable data strategy or data governance functionAbility to balance technical expertise with business insightExcellent leadership and stakeholder management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work with a high degree of independence and devise creative solutions to difficult problemsStrong executive presence, a sense of urgency, and the ability to build effective working relationshipsExcellent, confident communicator who is effective at all levelsDesired skills:Advanced degree is a plusFamiliarity with AWS is desirableFamiliarity with core legal technology, such as iManage, Aderant, Foundation, Intapp, is a plusFamiliarity with matter lifecycle management, time and billing, conflicts, and other primary law firm processesPay range: $300,000 - $360,000 annuallyOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!Ranked a Top Staffing Firm in the U.S. by Staffing Industry Analysts for six consecutive years, Genesis10 puts thousands of consultants and employees to work across the United States every year in contract, contract-for-hire, and permanent placement roles.
